2003 Nissan 350Z nismo
May, 2008
Somehow this car found its way into my life.
And under my carport with some older buddies.
Its a very early 350Z, manufactured in August of 2002. These cars were introduced in the middle of 2002 as 2003 models.
This car has about 35,000 miles on it. Its gorgeous on the inside and on the outside. Its been incredibly well taken care of. The previous owners, friends of ours, mostly kept it in the garage. They both had other cars, daily drivers, and this car was just driven around town, when they felt like it.
Which wasn't too often, since neither one of the really liked shifting a manual transmission.
As I said before, we have known the owners for some time, and about a year ago they decided to sell it. They really wanted too much for it, and just had trouble putting it up for sale, going through all the hassles, etc. I kept making them a low offer. They laughed. At first. After about a year of no sale, and a much worse offer from CarMax, he called me up and asked me if I still wanted it.
Allow me to back up for a moment - I have a daughter who will be 16 in August of 2008. Since she is related to me, she couldn't possibly be happy with a normal, economical kind of car. What she really wanted was a Pontiac Solstice. Like that was going to happen. So we talked and talked and talked. I would show her cars and she would stick her tongue out at me.
She would show me cars and I'd say no way. So this had been going on for many, many months. I told her about this car, and to her it was a possibility, except neither one of us thought it would really happen. Even after we agreed to buy it, she was concerned and didn't tell her friends, not wanting to jinx it.
I didn't want the car to show up until after exams were over. So on the day of her last exam, we picked it up. Her mother brought her, and some of her friends over. When she saw the car in front of the house she just about exploded and almost bounced out of a moving car!
So now its here, and has been driven a bit by her brother and by me. And her mom. It was handy to have when my Honda was totalled. Now that that brutal episode is over, and I have Honda II, I don't need to drive it. I may from time to time take it out, though [grin].
We did take it to Austin for a Capital Z weekend. That was tons of fun! Her brother is off to college now, so it just sits.
The interior can best be described as a cocoon. A very comfortable one.
Yeah. It's her car. Soon.
And now he wants one, too. Convertible.
3.5 liters at 10.5 to 1 compression. Premium only.
nismo. is there any other way to travel?
6/24/2011 - Time for some new tires. New rubber all the way around! This is what we put on this car.
And here they are putting the tires on the car. Can't wait to get out on the road and give it a little road test!
Meeting with the Z club of North Texas. Here we are stopped for lunch.
And after lunch we saw these great windmills!!!!
3/14/2017
Sold the car. It need transmission, front suspension, air conditioning, and other work. at 107,000 miles it was not worth fixing. Goodbye; it had a great run.
 Drop me a line!
